Over the past few years Anthony Tanner’s work has primarily dealt
with issues associated with street violence. Tanner's paintings, collages and photographs often satirically depict bystanders reading books, listening to iPods or using mobile phones while scenes
of violence are enacted around them. Exploring these scenes of
aggression and personal disconnection, Tanner's work questions our moral obligation and/or potential intervention within contemporary social contexts.
