As a Lebanese migrant in Australia, Azza Zein collects, deconstructs and reprocesses found digital images of political and collective events across the world. Employing methods that homogenize these diverse source materials, she reorders and reweaves them together in spatial installations, video and photographic works, writing and paintings, which reflect both shared and individual experiences.
Her art practice dissolves many binary structures at play in the visual and cultural world including concepts of old and new, East and West, abstraction and figuration, public and private.
